Description

We are seeking several Principal PMTs to develop and launch science-driven products and programs that improve employee experience for over 1.5 million Amazonians worldwide. The products our team is developing improve all aspects of work for employees and managers including benefits, compensation, recruiting, voice of employee, management, and culture. We are developing tools to accelerate use of data and science in business decisions, and to support robust and reliable scientific insights to guide business decisions.

You will work closely with business partners and an interdisciplinary team of UX and science experts in economics, applied science, and engineering, to create and deliver positive impact for Amazon employees at scale. Specific products include:

Reimagining company-wide employee feedback tools with generative AI and statistical models to provide actionable insights.

Building predictive models to help leaders understand the impact of policies on employee sentiment and attrition.

Creating productionized AI/ML solutions that enable leaders to design and scale programs that improve experience.

Technical products that support our communities (Leadership Principle: Success and Scale Bring Broad Responsibility) by helping make important government data resources easy-to-access and use for public policy leaders and their constituents, so policy and community leaders can make informed, data-driven decisions together.

Key job responsibilities

Define and drive a multi-year product strategy and roadmap for employee listening, with a focus on leveraging emerging AI technologies like large language models and causal machine learning to improve employee experience through scalable, data- and science-driven decisions.

Engage directly with Amazon's most senior leaders to deeply understand their workforce needs and translate them into innovative AI-powered product capabilities.

Own the full product lifecycle, delivering long-lasting, high-impact solutions that empower leaders with science-backed data.

Collaborate closely with science and engineering teams to develop and integrate state-of-the-art employee listening tools and models.

Deliver comprehensive product documentation such as 3 Year plans, product vision documents/PRFAQ’s, technical requirements, and AI ethics guidelines to ensure responsible development of GenAI.

Influence priorities across Amazon by demonstrating the transformative potential of applying advanced AI, quantitative analysis, and science-driven recommendations to improve employee experience.

Mentor and develop other product managers, fostering a culture of innovation and customer obsession within the team. Lead strategic planning to achieve ambitious technical and business goals, collaborating with science, engineering, and HR teams.

Define clear goals, objectives, and success metrics in the planning and execution space, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies.

About the team

The People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science Team uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms, process improvements and products, which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, wellbeing, and the value of work of Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal. We invest in innovation and rapid prototyping of scientific models, AI/ML technologies and software solutions to accelerate informed, accurate, and reliable decision backed by science and data.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

7+ years of technical product or program management experience

Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders

Ability to understand and communicate complex quantitative and ML/AI concepts

Experience with Agile development processes for machine learning systems

Experience successfully delivering complex technical products

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related field

Background in econometrics, causal modeling, or other quantitative social sciences

Experience developing products using ML, AI, or advanced statistical techniques

Knowledge of data science and experimental design methodologies

Proven track record shipping data-driven products on tight timelines

Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Sharp analytical abilities and comfortable with SQL, Python and R

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
