Department Summary:
MITRE is dedicated to solving problems that provide safety, security, and economic prosperity for all individuals and American businesses. MITRE is seeking a principal cybersecurity professional with expertise leading projects in the domains of economics, banking and finance regulatory, digital asset and currency modernization, shared services, and science and technology policy to support a diverse portfolio of customers and sponsors within the Treasury, Economics, and Enterprise Modernization (TEEM) Division.
Job Responsibilities:
These positions will enable:
Leads work-shaping activities with seniors sponsors, leads engagement with and develops topical papers and briefings for sponsors on critical cyber topics related to their mission priorities.
Assembles and leads multiple teams in the successful delivery of project outcomes, including quality and fitness of project deliverables.
Leads teams technically in evaluations, analyses, tests, assessments, recommendations of complex information systems and cyber security policies, procedures and systems.
Uses broad cyber expertise to solve cyber-related problems and serve as a conduit to MITRE’s expansive cyber expertise and capabilities.
Develops innovative techniques and procedures for conducting IS and cyber security risk assessments and compliance
Identifies and characterizes potential risks, assessing vulnerability of critical assets to specific cybersecurity risks.
Leads cyber, organizational, and data analytics efforts that identify and mitigate economic and financial practices that inform strategy and policies to support U.S. prosperity
Develop research proposals to explore new ideas and technologies which could enhance effectiveness of the Finance Sector; such as distributed ledger, faster payments, or new modalities for financial analytics
Conduct statistical analysis and modeling using cyber tools to provide new insights which support policy-level decision making
Provide US Treasury and related sponsors with commercial and economic analysis of national interest areas, and methodologies to identify cyber threat mitigation alternatives
These positions will work with or lead a multidisciplinary team to provide technical expertise with senior level government officials on the critical challenges and solutions influencing the operations and growth of the US economy. The role includes leading project teams to plan, manage and deliver capabilities and work products that help sponsors make progress toward desired outcomes while meeting MITRE quality expectations.
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Experience engaging with government leadership and staff to understand the mission space and challenges, to shape new work and manage existing work
Ability to manage and lead teams, tasks, and staff to meet expected customer and sponsor outcomes
Ability to manage project financials, delivery measures (quality), and sponsor interface
Ability to communicate and synthesize complex requirements that enable and inform policy, organizational and technical decision making
Experience in performing independent assessments to inform strategic decision making
Experience developing and executing timely solutions and actions
Ability to bridge finance, economics, and data analytic domains
Thrives in leading multi-disciplined teams on critical national security challenges.
Passion for adapting and developing new technology, tactics, and procedures for solving national challenges
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred with at least 8-10 years of related experience or PhD/PhD candidates with 5 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of related education
Cyber Security formal training and experience
Knowledge of and/or experience with the TEEM sponsors is preferred.
Experience working with high-level sponsor executives is strongly preferred.
Prior MITRE PL experience is preferred.
Affinity for personnel leadership/management.
Excellent interpersonal skills – discretion, diplomacy, and tact.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Passion for excellence and demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to the development of high-quality deliverable.
