Job purpose
Directly supports our Purchasing Manager in the screening and procurement of all
items necessary to support plant production operations in a timely and cost effective manner. Employs our SyteLine Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to identify material requirements and initiate purchasing. Ensures that all company procedures are upheld while doing so. Works closely with our Engineering Team to prepare total cost estimates for projects.
Duties and responsibilities
Processes purchase order requests, issues purchase orders to vendors and changes orders as needed utilizing our ERP and procedures Develops and manages a range of machine shop vendors from commodity to precision tolerance work as well as manage vendors for our own in house machining Aids in make/buy decisions for machining parts orders Works with Arnold’s internal Machine Center to compare internal costs versus outside costs Supports Engineering Department in obtaining cost of precision machined components, assemblies and coating Works with Engineers during job planning to prepare total cost for materials and labor estimates including project lead time Develops and maintains the product costing process and procedures including current materials cost data and labor cost data by suppliers and fabricator to enable exceptional customer service and timely and accurate cost estimations Understands materials, labor, outside processing overhead costs and additional accounting and financial elements of total costs and has knowledge of importing products into US. Assesses cost effectiveness of products, projects or services and tracks actual costs relative to bids as the project develops Works with Accounts Payable department to resolve billing issues Obtains quotes as needed and works with existing and new vendors to improve our cost position and delivery times Works with Quality to resolve vendor quality issues Estimates values according to knowledge of market price Develops and maintains cost sheets for standard services Supports supplier innovation activities Reviews ERP for needed items Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum three years of purchasing experience in an OEM environment Familiarity with SyteLine Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) computer systems is a plus Knowledge of mills, lathes, manual CNC and other machining equipment is desire Bachelor's degree is perferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered Experience in sourcing internally and familiar with import regulations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Flexibility and responsiveness in a fast-paced environment are required.
Working conditions Full time position Standard office work environment Some parts of job may require off-site work, such as meetings or seminar Physical requirements
