Make a Difference: Peer Recovery Support Specialist for HHYP (Transitional Aged Youth Program)
Are you passionate about helping young adults overcome challenges and achieve independent living? Join our team as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist for the HHYP (Transitional Aged Youth Program) and provide vital support to individuals aged 18-24 experiencing homelessness. This on-site role focuses on empowering residents in our supportive housing program, many of whom have histories with the criminal justice system or foster care.

Join our team as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist for the HHYP (Transitional Aged Youth Program) and provide vital support to individuals aged 18-24 experiencing homelessness. This on-site role focuses on empowering residents in our supportive housing program, many of whom have histories with the criminal justice system or foster care.
As a PRSS for HHYP, you will:
- Provide direct, on-site support to residents in apartment settings.
- Facilitate daily living activities and connect residents with essential wrap-around services.
- Conduct assessments and collaborate with case managers to develop personalized Housing & Care Plans.
- Offer one-on-one and group skill-building sessions covering topics like independent living skills, conflict resolution, budgeting, and more.
- Accompany residents to appointments and assist with obtaining vital documents.
- Foster a trauma-informed, recovery-focused environment.
- Must be in active recovery for a minimum of two years.
- Lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use, and a desire to share your recovery journey with others.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
- Experience working with at-risk homeless populations and individuals with serious mental illness is highly desirable.
- Ability to establish rapport, maintain boundaries, and handle crisis situations effectively.
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
