Sr. Manufacturing/Quality Assurance Engineer Job Locations US-OH-Fairborn Job ID 2024-7883 Overview Abacus Technology is seeking a Manufacturing and Quality Assurance Engineer to provide technical support at Wright-Patterson AFB. This is a full-time position. Responsibilities Develop and assess defect prevention strategies and processes for development, production, and deployment of hardware. Perform Quality Assurance (QA) analyses to ensure hardware systems being acquired by the Federal government can be produced by controlled manufacturing processes at manageable risk to cost, schedule, or user satisfaction. Conduct special studies and analyzing broad QA issues common to all government acquisition programs, including: discrete investigations of particular issues using such methods and tools as process variability reduction, statistical process/quality control, defect prevention, metrology, nondestructive evaluation, QA, or automated inspection. Review and assess contractor QA planning and progress. Evaluate the quality system of the weapon system prime/subcontractor or depot, to the degree it impacts the system being acquired and assess the quality planning, discipline, and effectiveness, including weapon system prime/subcontractor use of advanced quality tools, techniques and systems. Analyze weapon system prime/subcontractor strategies, plans, and activities to identify opportunities for improvement. Support quality audits to include hardware audits. Prepare a description of broad quality strategies for defect prevention covering product and process design, production, and deployment. Determine appropriate program QA requirements and prepare descriptions of tasks for inclusion in the contract PWS. Assist in translating user requirements into weapons system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate weapons systems, subsystems and equipment for eventual fielding and deployment. Assist in performing material solution analyses leading up to design reviews. Assist in analyzing equipment and software deficiencies; make recommendations for equipment and software deficiency corrections; and assist in developing, integrating, and testing equipment and software deficiency solutions. Assist in the development and evaluation of IMP, IMS, and Systems Engineering Detail Schedule (SEDS) engineering cost estimates. Perform, as required, an advisory role for program weapon system contractor source selections on all engineering related requirements. Assist with the implementation of the SEP throughout program operations and advise the USG of pertinent shortfalls or gaps for which corrective actions may be needed. Assist in milestone preparation as well as engineering evaluation of OEM and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues such as: evaluations of Advance Change Study Notices, ECPs, Contractor Change Proposals, FAA bulletins, and related documents. Apply OSS&E and airworthiness processes, as well as assist in providing risk assessments, safety analysis and recommendations, and address high priority safety issues. Qualifications 15+ years experience in quality assurance including at least 5 years experience in a DoD environment. Bachelor's degree in a related field. Must have an understanding of DoD, AF, and common engineering/scientific principles, processes, and procedures to improve performance and sustainability of existing and future AF and joint service weapon systems. Must have an understanding of applying MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria, to aircraft systems and subsystems.
