Principal Data Scientist

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center seeks Principal Data Scientist (New York, NY) to apply new approaches to infusing AI/ML into innovative business problems in healthcare. Engage with senior MSKCC physicians to translate their clinical research problems into a cohort definition, extract institutional data and perform feature engineering as necessary to prepare for predictive modeling diagnostic and/or prognostic models. Develop clinical applications leveraging machine learning techniques such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), Computer Vision, Survival Analysis and Statistics in a deep collaboration with other researchers and clinicians across Memorial Sloan and other medical centers. Introduce latest research in artificial intelligence from leading companies. Collaborate with external healthcare institutions on several research initiatives to improve internal products as well as validate internal machine learning models on external data to develop and deliver unbiased models for general consumption. Present results and research outcomes to key stakeholders across the institution. Mentor and guide junior Data Scientists. Telecommuting permitted. EEO/VETS/ADA.REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics, or Operations Research and 7 years of experience in the position offered or related. Must have 7 years of experience with all of the following: working on production ready AI/ML models; experience with Deep Learning frameworks such as Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch or other platforms for scalable problems such as HPE Vertica, and C++STL; working with ML packages RStudio, R, Sklearn, XGBoost, LightGBM, Spark ML; data-driven with good understanding of multi-modal and polyglot data repositories, spanning Relational, NoSQL and modern Big data architectures on multi-cloud environment.
