The marketing team at Ballantine Bantam Dell is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager to lead and execute key title marketing campaigns for fiction. This position reports to the Director of Marketing.

The ideal candidate will possess a love of both commercial fiction and romance, a strong understanding of the social media landscape, and a creative, collaborative spirit.

Ballantine is renowned by readers as the go-to publisher forcommercial fiction across contemporary fiction, mystery/thriller, historical fiction, romance, as well as thought-provoking and narrative nonfiction. We are proud to publish a wide-ranging list of bestselling authors, including Taylor Jenkins Reid, Isabel Allende, Jodi Picoult, Sarah Adams, Josie Silver, Elissa Sussman, and Linda Holmes-as well as newly established novels like Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors.

This position has in-office responsibilities such as attending author and agent meetings as well as team and strategy meetings. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance from our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).

The Role:

  • This role includes consumer outreach, preorder campaigns, author platform development, influencer marketing, advertising, and overall creative strategy.
  • Creates and leads innovative title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer insights for upcoming publications in the commercial fiction and romance genres
  • Manages multiple marketing projects with varying timelines while simultaneously building relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Work closely across departments with editorial, publicity, sales, and creative services (including social media, email marketing, design, copy, media buyers)
  • Identifies available audiences for each book and ways to reach them through advertising, promotion, and social media while also keeping up to date on new platforms and marketing methods
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with authors, agents, and internal teams to ensure successful campaign execution.
The Essentials:
  • 3-4 years of experience in book promotion or related media such as magazines, music, film/TV. Candidate with 5+ years of experience and examples of independent execution of title campaigns will be considered at the senior level.
  • Able to apply organizational methods and strategies to meet deadlines and manage multiple active projects at once in a fast-paced and details-focused environment
  • Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively with major authors and stakeholders
  • Proficiency as well as strong interest in using social media platforms as a marketing tool
  • Ability to work independently in a proactive manner and collaborate with the team when needed
  • A passion for: reading, social media, initiative, innovation, collaboration, and curiosity
  • Adobe Photoshop or Canva skills are a plus


The salary range for the Marketing Manager level is $73,500-$80,000 and the salary range for the Senior Marketing Manager level is $76,000 - $80,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
