Job Summary: A licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the direction of an RN or provider (physician, NP, PA or other APP). Specifically, this position is intended to carry out the treatments and procedures required in the outpatient departments of Erlanger Medical Group based on appropriate scope of practice and industry standards.

This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per their licensure. This team member is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients, support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy, behavior change and to manage the practices' patient population. The LPN Procedure Nurse will participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Education: Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience: Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education

Preferred: Experience working in the outpatient setting within an office practice

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Current licensure to practice practical nursing in Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward

Preferred: Certification in the area of specialty in which they are applying.

Department Position Summary: A licensed practical nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned. Associate will be responsible for preparing patient, performing procedures, patient wound care, and post-procedure patient care.

The associate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. The individual must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs. The individual must be able to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures as allowed by the Nursing Scope of Practice. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor or direct observation or discussed verbally or written.
