POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the IT Supervisor, and following the guidance and technical leadership provided by the Lead Computer Technician, provides a variety of technology support including, but not limited to, hardware, software, and professional development to school district end users.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities. It is essential that the incumbent have, at a minimum, a basic understanding of computer and associated technology functionality and troubleshooting in order to be able to apply IT support to the end user. A typical way to obtain these would be: high school diploma, three years of previous information systems experience, one of which may be in a related or equivalent position elsewhere, to include maintaining personal computers, networks and peripherals OR possess an Associate's degree in computer science or related field. Academic training or coursework in computer science or management information systems may be substituted for work experience. Any combination of experience and academic training equal to the required experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Valid Comptia A+ certification required. Applicants without a valid Comptia A+ certificate will be required to earn this certification within twelve months of their date of hire. Valid Alaska driver's license required.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Computer (PC/Mac, iPad, Chromebook, etc.) and associated (printer, displays, peripherals, etc) technology including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. Understanding of network communications and protocols. Standard software packages such as operating systems, internet browsers, etc. Workstation management and software installation; curriculum-based software desired. Instructional assistance and training techniques.

ABILITY TO: Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Efficiently use record keeping skills. Plan and prioritize workload requirements including scheduling and organizing multiple tasks. Analyze and define client equipment and software requirements for multiple desktop systems. Maintain effective working relationships with other staff, students, and the general public. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, and able to work a flexible schedule which may include hours outside the regular workday. Use personal transportation to perform job duties.

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time 12-month position working 37.5 hours/week with a starting salary of $31.01 per hour plus the District's excellent benefit package including health, dental, vision and life insurance, Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), and paid sick and vacation days.

Selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
