Job description
Overseas Adventure Travel is seeking a qualified Jr. SQL Developer in our Marketing Operations department with a focus on performing back end SQL development in our Marketing CMS MS SQL database.
This SQL Developer will work with every team involved with marketing communications, including Brand and Account Managers, Copywriters, Web Developers, Web Content Editors, and Video and Photo Editors. This person will develop solutions to maximize efficiency and accuracy across all teams by understanding business problems and opportunities. The Developer thrives in a fast-paced environment, recommending solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals of streamlining with automation and efficiency.
Responsibilities: Write SQL scripts, views and stored procedures to be used by ETL processes and reports. Support web development and web content teams by preparing Marketing CMS data for consumption by Web platform. Assist business users by analyzing data, generating ad hoc reports and training/helping with existing self-service reports. Create front-end forms, SQL tables and relationships using our CMS application's administrative tools to allow business users to maintain dataset. Write ad-hoc queries in MS SQL Server Management Studio to support business requests. Support troubleshooting/testing and research to determine root causes of issues including such areas as communication, process, training, system defects or other gaps. Evaluate and improve business systems and how they align with user needs. Analyze data using a variety of techniques. Work with a dedicated project team in scrum style operations and occasionally work with other teams and business leaders. Perform data mapping and data translations, as needed. Ensure data accuracy, system integrity, compatibility, and standardization. Provide internal system support for various departments, such as answering questions, fulfilling simple data requests, investigating and trouble-shooting system errors, escalating higher level issues and requests to IT team for resolution, analyzing support requests to identify root causes of issues, find trends and propose process and/or system improvements. Requirements:
2+ years of relevant experience in SQL programming or Data Analysis/Analytics SQL experience required Experience with one or more of the following: Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS and Azure DevOps. Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript is a plus. Prior experience on technology development and production support Comfortable working and communicating across operational areas and working in cross-functional teams Professional knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and practices of operations research analysis to apply development techniques to analyze and optimize systems, processes, operational problems, and procedures Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor communications based on audience and business objectives Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to leadership BA or BS college diploma in Computer Information Systems or related field preferred Demonstrated project management and timeline management skills Experience/proficiency in all MS Office 365 applications
