About the IT Department The Information Technology Department provides a suite of services including hardware and software support, custom application development, cybersecurity, networking, and tools for software integration. These services are provided to Walton Enterprises, the Walton Family Foundation and to Walton Family Entities. Responsibilities

About the Position

As a DevOps Engineer, you will lead and contribute to the development, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure and tools to support our software development lifecycle. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including peer software engineers, database engineers, and infrastructure, to create seamless integrations between systems. You will also provide technical leadership and mentorship, enabling the team to build and maintain a resilient and scalable system infrastructure.

What you will do (responsibilities):

Cloud Infrastructure Management Administer, optimize, and scale GCP resources, including but not limited to:

Cloud Run, Compute Engine for containerized application Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery for data Pub/Sub and Dataproc for data streaming and processing

Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform to manage GCP resources programmatically. Ensure proper configuration and management of GCP networking components, such as VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, and Cloud NAT. Deployment and CI/CD

Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools to automate application build, test, and deployment processes. Oversee the deployment of js and NestJS applications in GCP environments, ensuring efficient server-side rendering and API operations. Optimize application deployment workflows to leverage Cloud Run for serverless hosting when appropriate. Monitoring and Security

Set up and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Prometheus/Grafana. Implement robust security practices, including identity and access management (IAM), secure service-to-service communication, and integration with Secret Manager. Conduct regular audits of GCP environments to identify and remediate potential vulnerabilities or inefficiencies. Collaboration and Documentation

Work closely with development teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with application Document infrastructure configurations, deployment processes, and incident response plans for seamless knowledge transfer. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers in cloud practices and DevOps Qualifications

Who we are looking for (qualifications for success):

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and/or a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development. Cloud Platform Expertise

Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its key Proficiency in managing containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Strong grasp of GCP-native services like Cloud Run, Cloud Build, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub. Automation and Scripting

Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, or Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or Go for Application Deployment

Deep knowledge of deploying and scaling js and NestJS applications. Understanding of server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and API gateway configurations. Familiarity with TypeScript and modern JavaScript CI/CD and Version Control

Experience building robust CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab, or Expertise in managing version control workflows in Monitoring and Performance Optimization

Experience with observability tools like Cloud Monitoring, Datadog, or Proficiency in setting up log aggregation and query systems for incident Security

Knowledge of GCP IAM roles, policies, and secure network Familiarity with implementing secure workloads using Cloud Armor, Secret Manager, and Cloud Identity. Integration Design and Authentication

Proven ability to diagram complex integrations and workflows using tools like Lucidchart, Miro, or Visio, with a focus on clarity and scalability. Expertise in SaaS integrations, including Okta SSO for secure user authentication and authorization across systems. Experience leveraging Auth0 for custom applications where Okta is proxied through an Auth0 enterprise connection. Proficiency in integrating and consuming APIs to enable seamless data synchronization and automation between platforms. Additional Helpful Experience Includes
