Summary:
The Donor Engagement and Digital Fundraising Director will lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of mid-level giving, direct mail campaigns, and digital fundraising initiatives. This leadership role will report to the Chief Communications and Digital Officer and be responsible for growing and sustaining donor relationships across multiple channels, driving revenue through innovative fundraising tactics, and engaging donors in meaningful ways. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in donor engagement, digital fundraising, and direct mail operations, with a proven ability to drive results through strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Set the overall strategy for the mid-level giving program, direct mail campaigns, and digital fundraising efforts for AIPAC and pro-Israel politics, ensuring alignment with the organization’s annual and long-term fundraising goals.
Lead and manage a high-performing team of fundraising professionals, including mid-level giving managers, direct mail specialists, and digital fundraising staff. Foster a culture of excellence in donor relations, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with senior leadership, communications, marketing, data analytics, political, and cross-department fundraising teams to ensure alignment of fundraising strategies and message discipline with broader organizational goals and initiatives. Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mid-level donors, focusing on increasing donor retention, engagement, and upgrades. Set strategies for the annual donor experience and relationship with the organization. Oversee the segmentation of mid-level donors and create tailored messaging and experiences to meet their interests and giving capacity. Manage an integrated direct mail program that engages donors and drives revenue. This includes overseeing the creation, production, and distribution of compelling direct mail campaigns, including appeals, stewardship, and donor acknowledgment. Utilize data and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of direct mail campaigns, track donor behavior, and optimize future mailings for higher response rates and ROI. Ensure that all direct mail activities are aligned with the overall fundraising calendar and key campaign timelines. Lead the development of digital fundraising strategies across email, online donation platforms, social media, and other digital channels. Focus on increasing online revenue and donor engagement. Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of digital giving programs (e.g., monthly giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, etc.) and online campaigns, ensuring they align with overall fundraising goals. Develop targeted email and social media campaigns that engage donors at every stage of the giving cycle. This includes cultivating new donors, re-engaging lapsed donors, and retaining existing donors. Develop and manage the budget for mid-level giving, direct mail, and digital fundraising initiatives, ensuring all campaigns are executed within budget while maximizing ROI. Qualifications/Skills:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Experience: 10+ years of experience in fundraising, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing mid-level giving, direct mail, and/or digital fundraising efforts. Proven track record of driving fundraising revenue through digital channels, direct mail, and donor engagement strategies. Expertise in donor segmentation, engagement, and retention strategies, particularly for mid-level donors. Strong understanding of fundraising technologies, Salesforce, and familiarity with email marketing tools (e.g., Iterable, Outreach.io, Marketing Cloud, etc.).
Skills: Excellent strategic thinking and project management skills, with the ability to set clear goals and execute them. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies. Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling donor communications and presentations. Leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing and motivating a diverse team.
