What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to join our Body in White (BIW) team at Megafactory. As an Equipment Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving existing equipment, including tooling, fixtures, and cranes, and collaborate with cross functional team to help solve production bottlenecks. You will also work with contractors and integrators to define, develop, install, and commission new automation solutions.
Responsibilities
Be the subject matter expert in maintaining and upgrading tooling and fixtures used in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes Understand GD&T and design principles Work with equipment vendors to develop unique solutions from concept to production phase Leverage our in-house machine shop/prototyping team to design, fabricate and qualify new designs Working with other operational teams to identify and resolve production bottlenecks Present data for design reviews and information to cross functional teams and management effectively Continuously analyze BIW manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and increased efficiency Provide technical support to the maintenance team to resolve any BIW-related issues that may arise during manufacturing, ensuring minimal downtime Create and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process manuals Requirements
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience Practical experience with BIW manufacturing processes, equipment, and assembly flow Proficiency with CATIA, 3D experience is desired Be a subject matter expert in maintaining and upgrading tooling and fixtures used in Gas Metal Arc Welding, Resistance Spot Welding, structure adhesive processes, including updating cranes and all equipment needed in BIW Understanding of complex automation control systems Partner with Controls Engineers and Process Engineers to sustain, maintain and improve the existing Gas Metal Arc Welding equipment Knowledge of heavy duty crane systems Understanding of safety regulations Compensation and Benefits Benefits

$86,400 - $151,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
