The Johnson & Johnson MedTech Communications & Public Affairs team (MT CPA) team is seeking an experienced senior communications leader to oversee integrated communications for Johnson & Johnson’s electrophysiology business – a $5B+ global business and top growth driver for Johnson & Johnson MedTech.

Position Summary
External Corporate Communications and positioning: Strategic narrative, executive thought leadership, financial comms, clinical and data science comms, event and medical meeting communications, media relations, and issues management
Employee and internal communications: Employee communications strategy, management of key communications channels, change management communications
Leadership and team development: GCA and CPA leadership and contributions to functional excellence, strategic leadership partnership for business platforms, performance and talent development of team
Responsibilities
The Director:
Sets communication strategy and direction to enable business growth, build brand reputation, impact society, and fuel employee engagement.
Drives alignment, capability sharing, and execution across regional communication colleagues.
Collaborates closely with Global Strategic Marketing, regional marketing teams, HEMA, HR and Investor Relations, among others, to drive aligned messaging for key audiences and stakeholders.
Harnesses innovative communication approaches to build media, investor, and physician confidence in the company’s innovation pipeline and to drive uptake for new product introductions in the electrophysiology space.
Serves as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, preparing them for media interviews, speeches and presentations, investor and board meetings, impactful social media presence and external thought leadership.
Leads communications for JJMT EP M&A activity
Implements strategies to drive employee engagement and position JJMT EP as the employer of choice.
Ensures operational excellence within the team: oversees external agencies, manages budget, measures and reports on effectiveness of activations.
Sits on the cross-functional JJMT EP Leadership Team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of experience in a brand, communications, or marketing role
Individual must possess strong strategic and operational skills
People management experience
Experienced working in a highly matrix global environment, with experience creating and leading cross-functional teams to deliver business impact.
Demonstrated resilience and perseverance in shaping new approaches in ambiguous situations
Ability to travel up to 20%; domestic and international
Healthcare or cardiovascular experience is a plus
This position requires demonstrated functional expertise, including:
Reputation Management: Builds public trust and enhances business reputation.
External Communication: Skilled in stakeholder management, develops strong messaging and has a sophisticated understanding of how to work effectively with the news media
Emerging Media: Stays current on new media channels and appropriately integrates them into overall communication strategies and plans
Employee Communication: Skilled at creating innovated channels and content to inspire and equip employees
Change management: Experienced in mobilizing audiences around business strategy and transformation
Financial communication: Experienced in issues management and in communicating directly with investors and analysts.
This position requires strong leadership competencies, including:
Extensive experience working in a matrix environment across multiple regions and complex stakeholder interdependencies.
A natural collaborator with a proven track record at managing multiple stakeholders, driving new approaches and measurable results.
Ability to hire and lead direct and indirect teams through a rapid pace of change with a high level of ambiguity.
Commitment to talent development and leading in high-pressure situations; demonstrated ability to assimilate high-level strategic information and convert it into clear and concise communications.
Trusted advisor: Understands business issues and market dynamics and draws on this knowledge to provide informed communications counsel to business leaders. A proven track record of collaborating closely with very senior leaders in developing and executing strategic brand positioning and campaigns.
Strong writing, presentation, communication, and project management skills; Experience in creating compelling data visualization and storytelling.
Ability to influence the external environment – particularly in the healthcare professional space.
Salary
The base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950 USD.
Bonus
The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
