SUMMARY The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical and automation system maintenance and repair of company tugs, dredges, derricks, and construction equipment. This position plans, services, coordinates, directs, and monitors all electrical projects within the Northwest region. Travel to other Manson locations around the country to provide direct support to local technicians is required occasionally.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May complete other projects and duties as assigned.

Plans and performs service work on AC and DC electrical distribution systems, motors, and control panels. Supervises and performs work with qualified personnel and vendors engaged in electrical installations and the preventive and corrective maintenance of these systems as circumstances warrant. Works on the preparation of electrical maintenance scheduling, execution, and documentation, including AutoCAD drawing development. Creates documentation such as user manuals, controls diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings. Prepares recommendations for work, and when approved, initiates procurement of materials. Cooperates with regulatory bodies to ensure that repairs or modifications are consistent with safety regulations. Maintains a high standard of ethical behavior, encourages ethical behavior in others, supports ethical decisions, and actively seeks appropriate resolution to potential ethical conflicts. Ensures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct. Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:2 years of work experience with Marine and/or Industrial Controls and/or Power Generation/Distribution systems. Associate Degree or equivalent training in technical or engineering field. Experience solving problems in situations where only limited standardization or procedures exist. Experience with electrical safety practices. Experience solving problems using practical electrical theory in both AC and DC systems. Experience with reading, interpreting, and marking up schematics and drawings. Familiarity with the use of test equipment such as: Multimeter, insulation resistance tester (Megger), and clamp-on ammeter. Pass a Manson administered written examination covering practical electrical theory, problem solving, and safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Four years of field experience in Marine and/or Industrial Controls and/or Power Generation/Distribution OR 6 or more years of experience in any electrical area. “Hands-on” experience with mechanical and electrical systems. Working knowledge of Electrical Standards. Knowledge of AC and DC motor drive systems. Familiarity with medium voltage systems. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical. Familiarity with arc flash and coordination studies. Familiarity with modeling electrical systems in ETAP is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Able to effectively use the Internet to gather vendor and regulatory data. CAD software experience, AutoCAD preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS This role is primarily an office position that performs work at a desk. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders and step stools, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.). They must be able to navigate stairs, ladders, and gangways to board, work on, and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Position will require frequent trips out to floating equipment on-site at our Seattle Yard/Office location. Travel will occasionally be required to floating equipment at jobsites around the country. Employee will, at times, be required to work non regular workdays and shifts.
