Staff Accountant

Perplexity is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our small team revolutionizing the way people search and interact with the internet. You will be working closely with the Controller and VP of Finance to build out Perplexity's finance functions and process.
Responsibilities Accounts Receivable
Maintain accounts receivable customer files, including set-up of new customers Facilitate accounts receivable functions, including resolving billing issues and confirming bank details for customer payments Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate invoicing and timely collection of receivables Manage cash application making sure all cash receipts are applied properly and timely Identify opportunities for process improvements in AR workflows Assisting with month-end close process, as it relates to Accounts Receivable and customer payments (e.g. aging analysis and ledger reconciliations) Prepare month-end financial reports summarizing AR activities for management review Document any reconciling items or adjustments identified during the month-end close process for audit purposes Other duties as assigned
Accounts Payable
Ensure vendor information (e.g. W-9s) is updated correctly and entered in the accounting system Oversee and manage the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments Develop and implement creative solutions for payment processing to enhance efficiency and reduce costs Identify opportunities for process improvements in AP workflows Assist with month-end close process, as it relates to Accounts Payable and client disbursement costs (e.g. aging analysis and ledger reconciliations) Prepare month-end financial reports summarizing AP activities for management review Ensure all accrued expenses related to AP are recorded, including verifying vendor statements against the AP ledger Document any reconciling items or adjustments identified during the month-end close process for audit purposes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3+ years of experience in accounts payable and receivable roles; experience in a startup environment is a plus Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Creative problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges
The cash compensation range for this role is $110,000 - $170,000.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
