Location: Washington, D.C.

Salary: Competitive salary and benefits package based on qualifications; classified as full-time salaried; exempt and not eligible for overtime.

Reports to: Brian Heisler, Senior Art Director

Travel: May require occasional travel

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly creative and strategic Social & Digital Art Director experienced in social media and studio art direction. In this role, you will take ownership of the art direction across all of our social media and paid marketing channels, working closely with the content, marketing, and design teams to produce engaging, visually compelling assets that elevate our brand presence. Reporting to the Senior Art Director, you will play a key role in maintaining the visual identity of our brand while ensuring our content resonates with a digital-first audience.

Core Responsibilities

Social Media Art Direction:

Lead the art direction for all social media channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and emerging platforms Ensure consistent visual storytelling across all posts, stories, reels, and live content. Collaborate with the content and social media teams to develop creative concepts that drive engagement and align with the brand's aesthetic.

Studio Art Direction:

Oversee and direct in-house and on-location photo shoots for social media, including styling, lighting, and composition. Work closely with photographers, stylists, and models to ensure high-quality, on-brand imagery that reflects our creative vision. Manage post-production, providing clear feedback to ensure images are retouched to a professional standard.

Paid Ad Art Direction:

Lead the art direction for some paid ad channels, including Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and emerging platforms. Work closely with the Growth Marketing team to ensure creative needs and requirements for business goals are met. Ensure consistent visual storytelling across all posts, stories, reels, and live content. Ensure brand consistency across all paid digital channels. Stay up-to-date on design trends and digital marketing best practices.

Creative Strategy & Concepting:

Collaborate with the Senior Art Director, content creators, and marketing team to brainstorm and execute new content ideas that align with campaign goals and brand strategy. Stay up to date with social media trends, industry best practices, and competitor activity to ensure the brand remains relevant and innovative.

Cross-Department Collaboration:

Work closely with the web merchandising and product teams to create content that highlights key product launches, promotions, and collections. Partner with the video team on social-first video content, including motion graphics, product showcases, and short-form video storytelling.

Brand Consistency:

Ensure that all visual content adheres to the brand guidelines, maintaining a cohesive and recognizable look and feel across all channels. Manage the archiving of creative assets for easy access and reuse

Minimum Qualifications

5-7 years of experience in art direction, with a focus on social media and studio produced shoots, preferably within fashion or retail. Proven ability to lead creative teams on set and direct photoshoots. Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices, with experience creating visually engaging content for Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Video Platforms, and other relevant design tools. Excellent visual and creative judgment with a strong portfolio showcasing social media and photography art direction. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally. Experience with video content creation and motion graphics is a plus.
