What We're Looking For

This person will be working within HNTB’s Creative Engagement Solutions Team. Our team focuses on cultivating delivery through collaboration, creativity, and innovations to: meeting people where they are, garnering insight and support, and building meaningful connections and trust. As part of the Digital Transformation Solutions group, our team support the development and delivery of some of the most innovative and immersive web applications in the transportation industry. We are a diverse group of digital innovators comprised of geospatial and web application developers, planners, engineers, UI/UX designers and developers, communications professionals, and equity and public engagement experts.

This person will be working collaboratively with the team to support the design of web-based solutions and applications. The candidate will use human-centered design principles to inform and create user experiences within current and future solutions. These experiences should be user-friendly, intuitive, and aesthetically pleasing while meeting the needs of the users. Being able to work on and prioritize multiple projects at one time, as well as have experience in consulting or a similar collaborative work environment, is a must for this position.

What You'll Do:

Creates print and digital materials for proposals, including templates, charts, maps, infographics, covers and layout.

Creates print and digital materials for presentations, including PowerPoints, leave-behinds, and display boards.

Creates print and digital materials for PR and internal communications, including brochures, ads, and announcements.

Brainstorms new ideas and creates concepts for visually communicating key messages.

Maintains and organizes digital assets such as icons, photography, and stock graphics.

Coordinates with print vendors and photographers.

May review and approve final graphics.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Associates Degree in Art, Graphic Design or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or

In lieu of education 5 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

Creative Vision – A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create visually compelling designs across various mediums.

Technical Proficiency – Expertise in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma, and familiarity with web design tools, as well as an understanding of human-centered design of digital applications, platforms, and/or dashboards.

Collaborative Spirit – Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with developers and digital innovation team members across multiple sections and departments to develop solutions for project teams and clients to bring ideas to life.

What We Prefer:

Bachelor's Degree in Art, Graphic Design or related field

Experience designing prototypes and/or wireframes.

Understand, design for, and provide feedback on a solution’s 508 and ADA compliance, as well as other accessibility considerations.

Experience creating responsive designs targeting a wide range of devices and formats.

Proficient in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, After Effects, Figma and similar applications.

Converting substantial amounts of data or information into visual illustrations proficiently, with support from senior staff.

Creatively translating information by assessing problems and conveying visual solutions, with support from more experienced staff.

Developing PowerPoint or Keynote presentation templates proficiently, with support from senior staff.

Understanding of typography including application of line lengths, tracking, and leading to maximize legibility.

Strong communications skills and collaborative approach to work.

Knowledge of best practices in web design and development is a plus.

Knowledge of coding languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and design frameworks such Material Design or Bootstrap is a plus.

Consultant or similar collaborative work environment experience is a must.

The approximate pay range for New York is $63,206.94 - $118,513.02. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
