As a Technical Product Specialist (TPS), you will represent the Product Management organization on technical aspects of FlashBlade and FlashArray throughout the product life cycle. The TPS will develop, author, publish and deliver technical product information, technical white papers, and best practices guides that enhance the technical pre-sales teams’ selling abilities.
This individual may also be involved in characterizing performance requirements across a wide range of workloads spanning from industry-standard benchmarks to specific applications. You will also work with established and potential business development partners, interoperability testing, and product evangelism.
The Technical Product Specialist will work closely with product management, product marketing, and engineering providing detailed requirements and recommendations to help set the strategic direction for the product line. Additionally, you will be providing feedback and guidance to the software and hardware engineering teams regarding customer requirements, use cases, and important features and capabilities in the products that Pure Storage develops.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Act as a subject matter expert for FlashBlade and FlashArray, assisting pre-sales technical teams including the creation and execution of pre-sales technical training.
Plan and develop technical collateral to highlight best practices resulting from functional and performance testing. This includes developing architecture white papers, solution design guides, integration guides, and reference architectures. This analysis will also include determining the ideal method for simulating and testing the product/solution in a "real environment". Significant experience in server, network, and storage areas and testing is desirable.
Provide a source for reliable technical information and advice on products to the Pure Storage product management, product marketing, and hardware and software engineering teams. Must be able to define in detail use cases on current or new product capabilities.
Provide technical support to Marketing in developing and implementing marketing programs (e.g.: collateral, events, shows, webinars etc.) and participate in trade shows by providing technical demonstrations and expertise as related to product performance.
Create and deliver highly technical presentations to customers and sales and technical partners.
Be a broad technical expert on the implementation and use of the Pure Storage products.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
7+ years of technical background with an in-depth and hands-on understanding of SAN, NAS, and object storage
BS or MS in Engineering, Computer Science or similar would be an asset
Broad, overall datacenter and software knowledge required with significant enterprise technical depth in: compute and virtualization hardware/software, networking and security
Experience in managing multiple complex tasks and prioritizing based on business need
Experience in generating various technical documents and reports including best practices guides and whitepapers
Strong knowledge of Unix, Windows, Linux, and File Systems
Must have In-depth knowledge of NFS and SMB file services including an understanding of how they are used in datacenter environments
Knowledge of shell scripting and Python scripting is a plus
Experience with Flash storage is a plus
Experience with SW Development, Big Data Applications and/or Machine Learning is a plus
Knowledge of S3 Object including experience with the use of S3 in AWS is a plus
Strong writing and communication skills required
Analysis and problem-solving skills required
You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 4 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.
The annual base salary range is: $172,000 – $259,000. Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations.
This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
