Position Summary:
A psychiatrist provides psychiatric, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to consumers of Clinica Sierra Vista and provides psychiatric consultation to community members.
Essential Functions:
- Provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, diagnostic review, and psychopharm services for the out-patient clinics.
- Consults with a multidisciplinary team of CSV mental health providers regarding psychiatric aspects of the patients care.
- Confers with the consumer relatives/care givers regarding illness and treatment.
- Maintains electronic medical records, including medication lists and e-prescribing.
- Manages and maintains a panel of patients
- Adheres to the highest standards of medical ethics at all times.
- Assures quality of care for all patients at all times and regularly participates in clinic Peer Review and Quality Assurance Programs.
- Adheres to and complies with state and federal standards of clinical practice.
- Provides phone-triage/consultation in rare emergent situations afterhours.
- May be required to supervise psychiatric mid-level personnel, including RN’s, NP's and Physicians Assistant's on-site and by telephone with outlying clinic sites.
- Required to see appointment and walk-in patients as scheduled.
- Completes various forms for Patients including: School Medication forms, JV220, SSI, medical clearance for SUD OP participation, etc.
- Reviews lab results for patients managed at the health center
- Provides prescriptions refills for patients managed at the health center
- Provides good customer service to patients including; introducing self, welcoming patients, explaining treatment/conditions, inviting the patient to ask questions and participate in their visit, explaining follow-up care, medications, referrals, etc.
- May assist the CMO in design, implementation, and evaluation of psychiatric health care programs/protocols for patients and staff.
- May represent CSV in professional groups
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- Satisfactory completion of four (4) year residency training program in Psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology AND valid license to practice medicine issued by the State of California.
- Completion of a residency training program and a valid California State License are required at the time of appointment.
- A knowledge of general medicine and psychiatry; current developments in the field of psychiatry; hospital and clinic organization management and procedures.
- Have an ability to work effectively with other professional workers in consultation; analyze situations and adopt an effective course of action; supervise other mental health professionals; maintain records and prepare reports. Ability and skill in diagnosis and treatment; perform other job related duties as directed.
