Entry-level professional within field Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision. Responsible for providing strategic road maps for the desktop computing environment. This role handles researching and implementing new technologies, owning and maintaining the desktop environment and acting as primary administrators as well as third level support. This role will require extensive experience of Microsoft 365 including Microsoft Teams, Exchange Server and Exchange Online, Enterprise Mobility and Security (EM&S) services, and Microsoft Azure and Azure Active Directory. Supports the Carilion enterprise desktop environment in a manner that increases efficiency and ensures security, both on premise and for our remote workforce. Manages corporate projects and problem resolution requiring the participation of multiple specialized teams.
Implement and administer a Modern Desktop environment that is highly available, fault tolerant and secure for the enterprise with moderate supervision from team and/or Manager.
Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all IT systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
Perform IT system administration activities such as creating, modifying, and deleting users, optimizing remote access, and security access for messaging systems, databases, and web applications.
Coordinate with department leadership to plan, design, and schedule the release of all software, hardware, and operating system updates. Able to define detailed steps for any implementation work and adhere to defined change control processes.
Prioritize and respond to requests for service and may provide escalation support to helpdesk staff. Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other teams on multi-faceted projects involving desktop / workstation technologies.
Administer IT systems using tools such as Tanium, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft WSUS, and McAfee EPO.
Create and maintain system images for deployment to desktop/workstations in the enterprise with moderate supervision from the team and/or Manager.
Work with other IT Support teams and third parties to assist and guide on all aspects of Microsoft 365 services and the integration of these services into existing environments. Manages assigned projects and meets deadlines with moderate supervision from team and/or Manager.
Develops reference materials (IT system diagrams, installation documentation, etc.) for supported workstation technologies and associated management technologies to be used for both online and in-person training of other technical staff with moderate supervision from team and/or Manager.
Provides input on areas of improvement (process or technical) and develops plans for associated changes required as part of the RCA (root cause analysis) process.
Adheres to departmental policies and procedures to assure prompt resolution to identified problems.
What We Require:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's/Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, business, or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
Entry level position. Minimum two years of related experience is preferred in deployment and configuration of current Windows operating system, supporting and implementing changes for Azure Active Directory including Enterprise Applications, Conditional Access policies, Self Service Password Reset.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals within first year of employment Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate within first year of employment

Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting. Must facilitate a positive and collaborative work environment. Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines. Effective communication skills (oral, written and presentation). Must have thorough understanding of general PC hardware, Microsoft Windows desktops, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft O365.
