Job Summary:
The Physician Assistant is an independent health care provider who coordinates inpatient/outpatient care through collaboration with the Physician. The PA provides care in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the practice and the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/Physician Assistant Advisory Committee.
Practice: RWJBH Orthopedics
Location: Livingston, NJ,
Travel within Essex, Hudson, and Bergen county satellite offices for physician/office support,
Qualifications-
Requirements:
+ Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners/ Physician Assistant Advisory
+ Active Physician Assistant license in New Jersey
+ Basic Life Support (BLS);
+ Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
+ CDS and DEA
+ Although not required, fluency in Spanish, and other languages is a plus.
Scheduling Requirements:
+ Full time
+ 40 hours
+ Hours: Monday to Friday, 800 am - 430pm
Essential Functions:
+ Support the physician by providing coverage with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of service for patients requiring orthopedic care in both the operating and office environment.
+ Assists physician during office hours including preoperative and postoperative instructions.
+ Provides dictation support and documentation of patient encounters and letters of Medical Necessity.
+ Prepares discharge letters and make post-op calls to referring physicians.
+ Reviews charts preoperatively and documents any pertinent information.
+ Provides coverage with residents, fellows and other advanced practitioners covering provider on-call schedules.
+ Liaisons between physician and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care.
+ Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified tools.
+ Assists physician during hospital rounds with post-op patients and with research as needed.
+ Participates in and contributes to orthopedic educational activities for appropriate internal and external parties.
