Senior Systems Engineer - Downers Grove, IL - Information Technology

Position Highlights : Full-Time, 40 hours Hours: Monday-Friday; 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Location: Downers Grove, IL Travel: In office as needed. Benefits:

The Network Engineer is responsible for assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure by providing engineering expert resources in the disciplines of core routing, core switching, network security, network diagnostics, VPN, SD-WAN, firewall, application load balancing, and other various network technologies. .

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Under direct supervision of Information Technology leadership, the Network Engineer will be responsible for:

Assisting and/or leading the installation, configuration, maintenance, support and optimization of network hardware, software, communication links, and routing protocols Understanding of Azure networking concepts a plus. Networking with SaaS and peering environments a plus. Monitoring, analyzing and resolving network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion Supporting the maintenance of network documentation, including diagrams and configuration files. Collaborating with senior engineers and assist in the planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), and network security (firewalls, IDS, NAC). Conducting regular network audits to ensure compliance with security policies and best practices. Participating in network upgrades and migrations as directed. Assisting with user support related to network connectivity issues. Working with vendors for implementation of network related projects and utilize their support in troubleshooting and escalating issues to resolution. Staying updated on emerging technologies and trends in networking. Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience:

Previous work experience in a network-related role. Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, etc.). Familiarity with network devices and protocols (e.g., switches, routers, wireless access points and other similar technologies). Familiarity with SDN technologies and principles (e.g. SD-WAN, SDDC) Basic technical knowledge of IP routing including TCP/IP and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) Knowledge of network monitoring tools and software. Understanding of network security principles and practices. Certifications:

Certification in industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent Knowledge) will be considered as a plus
