Overview
The Senior BSA Analyst is responsible for assisting with anti-money laundering compliance initiatives by providing support to the credit union's BSA department on BSA/AML/OFAC related issues. The Senior BSA Analyst investigates, documents and reports suspicious activity in alignment with regulatory obligations to help ensure compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act regulations.
Responsibilities
Performs member and transaction analysis to identify trends and possible patterns of suspicious activity to include information from the following sources: BSA monitoring system, reports, branch referrals, new accounts, subpoenas, and 314(a) requests Conducts additional suspicious activity report investigations, high risk customer/account reviews, enhanced due diligence reviews, and recommends when to file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) Assists in the preparation and submission of all Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) within required time-frames Reviews and clears OFAC alerts generated by the Credit Union's systems Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of training programs to educate Credit Union personnel about BSA related compliance requirements and procedures Assists in the preparation of the BSA Risk Assessment on an annual basis Provides support to the Branches and Operations Support with BSA related questions Maintains files and records on cases for audit and regulatory review Conducts recurring reviews of BSA-related reports (e.g., beneficial owner reviews, OFAC scan verification) Maintain current knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and all related anti-money laundering and OFAC regulations Performs other related duties as assigned Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) #NWFCU1
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent 5 years of experience in BSA Compliance within a financial institution or related role Knowledge of federal banking BSA related laws and regulations governing financial institutions High degree of initiative, results-oriented and able to work independently with little supervision Strong organization skills, ability to learn quickly, and accurately and complete tasks timely High level of personal integrity, and ability to professionally handle confidential matters. Strong analytical ability, and the capacity to conduct research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide practical recommendations and solutions to problems Strong, verbal and written communication skills Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands Ability to obtain BSA/AML/OFAC certification within two years of hire Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely Hybrid remote work Ability to work the hours of M-F 8am - 4:30pm Preferred
Bachelor's degree in finance, legal studies, public policy, general business or another related field BSA/AML certification (e.g. ACAMS, NCBSO) Familiarity with Verafin (BSA/AML monitoring system)
