Description Interested in developing next generation communication and notification platforms? The WISE-Alerting team within the larger Builder Issues & Discovery team is looking for software developers with experience in building real-time, scalable, distributed systems. We leverage AWS technologies to operate on a global scale and deliver low-latency, highly-available services to customers, systems, and mobile devices across Amazon. A day in the life Respond to customers and internal stakeholders, Monitor and respond to events affecting the uptime of the Alerting Services, Work on the roadmap times to deliver the goals. Day to day operational activities, Design reviews, code reviews and help junior engineers. About the hiring group WISE-Alerting team is a tier-1 services which own the Incident Engagement Services like OnCall, paging and critical Ticketing workflows that power Amazon's Incident Response ecosystem. Basic qualifications 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems. 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience Programming experience with at least one software programming language. Preferred qualifications Ability to think abstractly and willingness to deal with ambiguous problems. Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C# or C++. Solid software development background including design patterns, data structures, test driven development Experience with distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and NoSQL databases Experience in building and maintaining mission-critical enterprise software Experience in Linux command line scripting (Perl, Python, or Ruby) Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, a related field or equivalent work experience. 10025 About the team Utility Computing (UC) AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.
