Job Description
The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Lifeguard to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Natatorium Facility in the Parks and Recreation department.
The Part-Time Lifeguard earns a competitive salary of $13.66 - $14.79/hour, based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center and employee assistance program.
Availability Monday - Friday for the following hours is preferred: 5:15am - 11am or 10:30am - 5pm.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A PART-TIME LIFEGUARD
Job Summary
Enforce rules and regulations, to ensure the safety and welfare to patrons, performing aid when necessary, and to set up and tear down equipment for daily and special event use.
This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Essential Functions
- Lifeguards pools; enforces rules and regulations; provides safety and welfare to patrons; monitors activities and performs service to pool area to prevent accidents.
- Provides assistance to swimmers and customers, provide high level of customer service and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the natatorium.
- Serves as lifeguard and monitors the safety of aquatic facility patrons; participates in enforcing safety policies and procedures; initiates rescues, administers First Aid and/or CPR.
- Provides exemplary customer service to all facility users including, but not limited to, members, class members, facility rentals and school district and club athletes and coaches.
- Perform daily maintenance functions of cleaning deck, restrooms, grounds, and building, etc. Immediately report unsafe equipment, facility, chemical, etc. issues to management.
- Checks and logs pool chemicals every two hours to ensure pools are safe for swimming.
- Insert and remove lane lines as needed. Ensures lanes are marked for current reservations throughout the day.
Additional Duties:
- Attends bi-weekly in-services to practice skills and maintain certifications.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Works days, evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school.
- Minimum age for consideration is 16 years of age.
- Requires some experience as a lifeguard or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Texas Driver License
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- CPR
- AED
- First Aid
