Position Summary: The Accounting Associate assists in the accounting of various corps locations. This role uses specialized ledgers and software to record and process expenditures, receipts, payroll, and other financial duties, including, but not limited to: processing mail, invoices, payments, cash receipts, and bank transactions; creating reports; cash fundraising support; and purchasing supplies.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable
- Establish/maintain proper transaction procedures, timely submission of expense documentation, and reconciliation.
- Receive mailed and download / print electronic invoices and bi-weekly payroll.
- Separate and code invoices / payroll / Expense Reimbursements by TSA Corps, Unit, or other entity.
- Record invoices / payroll into the accounting system for timely payment with accurate account coding for the financial records. Resolve discrepancies.
- Obtain approval to pay from authorized individuals.
- Secure check signatures from authorized signers.
- Assemble and mail checks / remit slips. File check copies and paid invoices for record keeping.
- Respond to all inquiries regarding outstanding invoices.
- Accounts Receivable
- Oversee the transmittal of cash receipts for timely deposit, with accurate account coding for the financial records. Separate and code all check and fundraising cash income by TSA Corps / Unit.
- Scan checks by TSA Corps / Unit for Divisional processing.
- Journal income and other donations into the accounting system and Salesforce Donor System with correct account coding for the financial records. Resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare received checks and cash income for bank deposit or carrier pickup to be deposited into appropriate bank account.
- Other Duties
- Reconciliations: Prepare banking reconciliation and reconcile balance sheet accounts as required; resolve discrepancies.
- Manage supply inventory and purchase supplies as needed; obtain authorized supervisor approval for purchases.
- Seasonal: Assist with safeguarding, and processing cash donations from Christmas Kettles, Easter, and other fundraising efforts.
- Keep abreast of system(s) changes, and updates or revisions to TSA policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 or more years of accounting experience.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the principles of accounting and applied experience.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365; highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint preferred.
- Willingness and ability to master new software and processes as needed.
- Acumatica Accounting Software experience preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
- Complete Safe From Harm training and keep current as needed.
