We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as an Accounting Manager who will oversee and manage the accounting, banking, and payroll functions of the company, ensuring accurate financial records for all construction and remodeling projects across multiple entities. This role involves maintaining records for building costs, coordinating insurance coverages, handling property taxes, and producing monthly financial reports. All work will be performed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee accounts payable, including vendor setup, 1099 preparation, insurance documentation, and weekly check runs.
- Manage accounts receivable by generating invoices, tracking payments, and handling collections.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
- Enter payroll data bi-monthly, covering salary, commissions, and bonuses.
- Manage online banking, including Positive Pay for fraud prevention.
- Reconcile bank accounts and prepare banking reports.
- Handle fixed asset capitalization and track depreciation.
- Accurately track and manage all construction costs, coding expenses with classes and item costs, and ensure data is transferred to appropriate database.
- Coordinate with utility companies, insurance providers, and other external entities for cost tracking, setup, change orders, and service terminations.
- Collaborate with insurance carriers to ensure appropriate coverage levels for company operations and projects. Track, review, and ensure timely payment of property taxes, including filing protests as needed.
- Coordinate employee benefits, including insurance.
- Reconcile and maintain loan agreements, ensuring compliance with terms.
- Reconcile, analyze, and integrate financial reports from internal and external entities within the corporate umbrella.
- Produce monthly financial statements, evaluate results, and present findings to owners with insights on company performance.
- Additional duties and assigned special projects as delegated by manager
Requirements
- College degree.
- Proven experience in accounting management, financial reporting, or controllership within the construction, real estate, or similar industry.
- Payroll and ADP experience.
- QuickBooks experience.
- Microsoft Office experience, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (complex formulas, data analytics, pivot table, etc.)
- Experience with CO-Construct or other project management software is a plus.
- Experience with process optimization and implementation of internal controls
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret, communicate, and present complex financial information.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing and ADP systems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Problem-solving aptitude and the ability to make informed decisions in complex situations.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to work other than scheduled times as necessary to meet deadlines or ensure that daily work is completed.
