Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our firm. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support decision-making processes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor budgets.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts and variance analysis.
Accounting Operations:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting team (3 direct reports and 2 indirect).
- Manage general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Implement best practices to streamline accounting procedures.
Audit Preparation:
- Coordinate and manage external audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and support documentation.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to gather financial information and support business initiatives.
- Collaborate with the finance team to drive strategic financial planning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is a plus.
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to take the next step, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
