Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 34 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward-thinking processor of value-added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling to the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.
CMA is looking for a highly motivated Accounting Specialist who is detail-oriented, possesses strong time management skills, and consistently follows guidelines and procedures. This individual will be responsible for managing Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, cash application, credit/collections, and for Accounts Payable and supporting various Finance Department functions, including the Period-End Closing process. A strong emphasis on teamwork is essential, as collaboration with colleagues will be key to achieving departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily A/R Responsibilities: Generate invoices and process payments.
- Reporting: Prepare and distribute daily financial reports.
- Collections: Initiate customer collection calls for past due amounts.
- Credit Management: Establish credit limits and conduct research on new customers.
- Support During Closing: Assist the Accounting Manager and Senior Staff Accountant during the period-end closing process.
- Special Projects: Undertake special projects as needed.
- Invoice Processing: Handle three-way P.O. matching invoices.
- Invoice Prioritization: Prioritize invoices based on cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Expense Auditing: Audit and process credit card bills and check requests.
- Check Processing: Match invoices to checks, obtain required signatures, and distribute checks accordingly.
- 1099 Maintenance: Manage and maintain accurate 1099 records.
