Job Description:
The Role

You will be responsible for ensuring the investments for FMR LLC and subsidiaries are recorded correctly in the general ledger and are presented accurately for financial reporting. You will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining controls around the investment process. You will be the main contact for investment-related questions and analysis. In this role, you will be exposed to a broad range of investment-related topics, as well as emerging areas. This is a high visibility role that offers exposure to most of the business unit accountants, senior management, and internal and external auditors. You will work closely with Corporate Accounting team members as well as finance, tax, and treasury. You will also work to improve and modernize the current investments process with the treasury and technology teams.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA and/or master's degree in Accounting preferred
  2. 4+ years of relevant accounting, preferably public accounting and/or consolidated investment reporting experience
  3. Ability to lead, mentor, develop and handle performance and output of team members
  4. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), consolidated investment reporting, and internal controls
  5. Experience in alternative investment accounting and reporting of partnership structured funds a plus
  6. Investment accounting experience working across a broad range of investment types, including: money market funds, debt and equity securities, mutual funds, digital assets, private equity securities, real estate, equity method investments, private investment funds, derivatives, etc.
  7. Audit background or experience working with auditors and preparing or reviewing financial statements
  8. Strong knowledge and understanding of financial systems and multi-dimensional reporting tools (i.e., Oracle, Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close, InvestOne, Workiva, Power BI, Tableau, Essbase)
  9. Experience designing and implementing accounting processes and impacts to financial systems
  10. Highly motivated, flexible, quality-focused team player with excellent organizational skills
  11. Ability to quickly grasp complex organizational/ownership structures
  12. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines
  13. Passionate about details while maintaining a broad view of business objectives
  14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills that build and maintain strong, constructive relationships with business partners

The Team

As a member of the FMR LLC Accounting team, this role is exposed to a broad range of accounting topics and will directly impact the annual and semi-annual financial statements for the consolidated company, FMR LLC. This role will be responsible for ensuring FMR's investments are correct in the general ledger and subsequently the financial statements. The position provides the opportunity to work closely with members of various teams across Corporate Accounting as well as Treasury, Finance, Fund Accounting, and Tax. This role will have a big impact on the future direction of the investment accounting process at the Company, as the mix of investment products is evolving.
