Role Description

We're hiring a Senior Staff Manufacturing Engineer in our Weirton, WV facility. The focus of this role is on the development and automation of Form's manufacturing equipment and processes for high volume manufacturing, and delivering high-budget, high-volume processes at new production facilities.

The Manufacturing Engineering group at Form Energy is instrumental in defining, designing, and deploying manufacturing lines from concept to high-volume manufacturing, and is invaluable to Form delivering and scaling our technology. This role will define processes, equipment architecture, and act as technical leader to enable successful manufacturing scale up in Form's production facilities. This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Weirton, WV facility. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

  • Build & lead world class anode advanced manufacturing team in charge of anode line development, equipment design and deployment to meet ambitious company goals.
  • Develop automated manufacturing techniques for electrode assembly, including pressing, welding, bulk material processing, sintering, etc
  • Develop innovative equipment designs & automation, geared towards high volume manufacturing.
  • Responsible of manufacturing process development, line concepts, equipment design, strategic vendor selection & management, deployment and owns the handoff process to operations (Your customer)
  • Ensure highly capable processes are developed and demonstrated ahead of detailed equipment design. Measure process capability and evaluate limit samples.
  • Lead & coordinate strategic projects to enable breakthroughs in our manufacturing processes
  • Partner with process engineering and R&D to validate new production methods
  • Work with equipment engineering and our supply chain team to identify and partner with OEMs
  • Perform DFM (design for manufacture) assessments in partnership with Form's battery component design teams
  • Apply industry standards and best practices to deliver world-class, safe, efficient processes
  • Be a champion for safety in the development of new equipment and processes
What you'll bring:
  • Degree in Engineering; Bachelor's with 9+ years
  • Proven experience in manufacturing line development
  • Experience in the design and operation of automated equipment for handling and assembling complex parts
  • Experience in a variety of assembly and fabrication techniques e.g., welding,
  • Experience designing hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with powder/bulk handling systems
  • Experience with high-temperature thermal processing equipment
  • Well-developed collaboration skills and experience leading project execution in cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with Industrial robotics and automation such as servo driven drives, conveyance, and material handling equipment
  • Familiarity with parametric modeling, specifically Solidworks
  • A first principles approach to design of tools and equipment
