Job Summary:
The part-time Board Operator / High School Sports Producer / Radio Announcer at Talley Broadcasting Corporation will be responsible for airing high school sport broadcasts, scores and information on-air for WSMI-FM in Litchfield, Illinois. Limited work hours that coincide with high school sports. Our on-air content includes: local and national news, agricultural news, weather, sports, and country music. The work schedule for this position will be on an as needed basis. This is a part-time, hourly, individual contributor role that requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and a passion for radio broadcasting. As a board operator and voice of our station, you will play a crucial role in our success by connecting with our audience and keeping them entertained and informed.

Compensation & Benefits:
Simple IRA is available with company match assuming minimum yearly compensation threshold is met.

Responsibilities:

-Board operation for high school sporting events and other live events

-Stay up-to-date with current events and trends in the local community and beyond

-Operate and maintain radio equipment and software

-Follow all laws and FCC rules pertaining to station operation

-Follow exisiting station format and program log

-Interact with listeners through on-air phone calls, social media, and other platforms

-Participate in promotional events and remote broadcasts as needed

-Collaborate with other team members, such as management, office staff, sales staff and engineers, to ensure smooth and successful on-air operations

Requirements:

- High school dipolma or equivalent

- Associate's degree in broadcasting, communications, or a related field preferred

- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a radio announcer or similar role preferred

- Knowledge of radio equipment and software, such as computerized playout systems, control boards and editing programs

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Strong organizational abilities

- Ability to think on your feet and handle unexpected situations

- Flexibility to work a variety of hours, including weekends, holidays, and possibly early morning or late night shifts

- Timely and dependable attendance

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
