Itron is currently seeking a Technical Training Specialist at our manufacturing facility in West Union, SC to support operations. The candidate will be responsible to develop, implement, train, and evaluate training programs to help employees improve their skills and performance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create training schedules for all company departments, track and create reports on outcomes of all training and maintain training records for the company.
- Train new hires on company policies and procedures and use the best training methods for a specific purpose or audience.
- Gather and evaluate information from employees and management on previous training to identify weaknesses and areas that need additional training.
- Attend seminars and meetings to learn new training methods and techniques and use the knowledge to prepare and coordinate future training sessions.
- Recruit and train new Trainers, delegate training tasks to the new Trainers and evaluate performance.
- Market company training opportunities to employees and provide information on benefits to encourage participation.
- Inform employees on scheduled training and track their progress.
- Recommend training materials and methods, order and maintain in-house training equipment and facilities and manage the budget set for training.
- Monitor all educational courses and coordinate company training events
- Map out annual training plans for production, supervisors, team leaders and others as assigned.
- Track all educational spending within each department
- Build and maintain relationships and partnerships with training providers
- Assist in the design and development of training programs (outsourced and/or in-house)
- Select appropriate training methods or activities
- Market available training to employees and provide necessary information about sessions
- Conduct organization-wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
- Prepare and order educational aids and materials
- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of training on employee skills and KPIs
- Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session
- Maintain updated curriculum database and training records
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience as a Technical Training Specialist in a manufacturing environment or related experience.
- Experience using TWI (Training Within Industry)
- Proficiency with Lean tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development.
- Strong communication skills, especially the ability to engage participants.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Business, Engineering, or Psychology or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and tools desired.
- Prior experience with using TWI (Training Within Industry) process desired.
- Prior experience with being key Train The Trainer within a facility.
