The Office of University Advancement advances and amplifies the mission, purposes, and goals of Lawrence University through fundraising and partnerships, strategic communications and media, brand management and marketing, volunteer leadership support, and alumni and community engagement.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Leadership Annual Giving Officer (LAGO) plays a vital role in advancing the Leadership Annual Gifts program and contributing to Lawrence University's fundraising success. The LAGO will manage a portfolio of individual donors ($2,500+) by strategizing and executing qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts. The LAGO will also collaborate with colleagues to build major and planned gift pipelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The LAGO reports to the Director of Annual Giving and works closely with other gift officers and the broader Advancement team. The role requires collaboration across departments and engagement with university stakeholders, including faculty, staff, trustees, donors, and alumni.

The LAGO will also collaborate with colleagues to build major and planned gift pipelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate & Strategize: Work with the Advancement team to develop and execute qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for Leadership Annual Giving donors.
- Manage Donor Portfolio: Qualify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for gifts at the $2,500+ level to support the university's current priorities.
- Support Fundraising Initiatives: Assist with Annual Giving campaigns, including Reunion giving, Giving Day, crowdfund campaigns, and Lawrence Fund initiatives.
- Ensure Efficient Gift Processing: Oversee the accurate recording, acknowledgment, and execution of gifts received by the university.
- Engage in Professional Development: Participate in relevant industry forums, share insights, and stay informed on trends and best practices.
- Additional Duties: Participate in other Advancement-related activities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree required, with at least two years of experience in annual giving fundraising and proven success in securing leadership gifts.
- Skills & Expertise:
- Proven track record in relationship management, gift solicitation, and stewardship at the $2,500+ level.
- Familiarity with philanthropic strategies, fundraising technologies, and prospect research tools.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive workplace practices and engaging diverse communities.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and donor management software.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, and travel within the Midwest as needed.
- Must pass background checks and driving record check.
