$7,000 Sign-On/Retention Bonus*

Based on evidence-based practices, the Mental Health Therapist facilitates, develops, and maintains therapeutic and recreational group programming schedules for patients admitted to the inpatient unit. They provide support to the ED Zone B to ensure boarding patients have appropriate therapeutic support and resources.

We are offering a $7000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefited evening-shift position working Monday - Friday, 12:00pm - 8:30pm with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide evidence-based education/materials to patients and families as needed.
  2. Documents in the patient's chart as necessary in response to patient progress and group participation.
  3. Develops and presents age-appropriate therapeutic modules (group curriculum), assessment, treatment, and care of psychiatric patients.
  4. Works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to develop patient specific plan of care when individualized treatment is required.
  5. Develops group therapeutic treatment modules using evidence based best practices, that target the needs of the patients and changing milieu mix.
  6. Develops and maintains a robust group treatment schedule including therapeutic groups and recreational groups spanning from 8am-9pm ensuring weekends and evening hours are included. Or as directed by unit leadership.
  7. In partnership with Therapy team (including OT), maintains a flexible schedule to ensure groups are covered on evenings, weekends and holidays.
  8. Provides brief intensive, solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques as needed to support patient safety.
  9. Assesses patient's present status and identifies individual interventions tailored to the patient's needs, using strong wellness and recovery orientation.
  10. Creates a welcoming culture of group treatment designed to be inclusive, safe, and open to all patients
  11. Maintains a flexible approach to group facilitation to ensure patients can participate in group treatment.
  12. Trains other staff on group facilitation as needed.
  13. Utilizes mindfulness-based interventions in psycho-educational group process.
  14. Leads psycho-educational groups for patients exhibiting a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses. Assesses and treats individuals living with mental illness, substance abuse or co-morbid conditions.
  15. Provides crisis intervention and support to assure patient safety.
  16. Support the milieu and interdisciplinary team with overall patient care needs as needed to ensure safety. Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure programming meets regulatory and unit standards.
  17. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work required.
  • Additional Licensure in Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential.

  • BLS certification required within 4 weeks of hire
