Position Overview
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the EHS Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's environmental, health, and safety programs. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and standards, promotes a culture of safety, and works to minimize environmental impact. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will ensure compliance with and adherence to all safety and health related compliance of all employees, contractors, and visitors to our facility. The successful candidate will develop and implement EHS plans, conduct trainings, investigate incidents and hazards, and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce potential risks. They will also monitor the use of safety and personal protective equipment, apply for and manage all permits and required environmental regulations, as well as inspect the facility to ensure compliance with EHS related standards.

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will ensure compliance with and adherence to all safety and health related compliance of all employees, contractors, and visitors to our facility. The successful candidate will develop and implement EHS plans, conduct trainings, investigate incidents and hazards, and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce potential risks. They will also monitor the use of safety and personal protective equipment, apply for and manage all permits and required environmental regulations, as well as inspect the facility to ensure compliance with EHS related standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
- Provide EHS training and education to employees at all levels.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics and trends.
- Collaborate with management to integrate EHS considerations into business operations.
- Manage waste disposal, pollution control, and other environmental programs.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EHS regulations and industry best practices.
- Prepare and submit required EHS reports and documentation
- Worker's Compensation case management.
- Ability to analyze accident data, industrial hygiene sampling results, new processes, and machinery for potential impacts and conduct job hazard / safety analyses.
- Support and/or lead projects to reduce EHS risk and/or increase compliance.
- Apply the concept of hierarchy of controls to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and inspect the facility and its equipment to ensure compliance.
- Stay informed of changes in EHS regulations and legislation to ensure compliance.
- Ensure that all safety-related documentation and records are properly maintained and updated.
- Be the subject matter expert for working with EHS web-based tools: EHS MGMT system, Learning MGMT System, and SDSOnline.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in occupational safety, environmental Science, industrial hygiene, or related engineering discipline or 12 years as a EHS Manager.
- 5 to 10 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment focused exclusively on EHS compliance
- Certification in safety and health from a recognized safety organization is a plus.
- Knowledge of EHS laws, regulations, and standards.
- Ability to Lead and influence others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well in a team setting.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to see and respond to at-risk situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear when in industrial locations.
- Must be able sit for longer periods of time as well as move about throughout the office and production, / laboratory environment.
