We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator specializing in Electrical systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial construction estimating, particularly in electrical projects, and will play a pivotal role in preparing detailed estimates across all design stages. Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator specializing in Electrical systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial construction estimating, particularly in electrical projects, and will play a pivotal role in preparing detailed estimates across all design stages. This position requires a professional who can manage multiple preconstruction projects simultaneously while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Analysis:
- Prepare detailed estimates for all design stages: Conceptual, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents.
- Identify and address scope gaps based on product and project requirements.
- Maintain and update the estimating cost database, tracking past productivity rates and historical pricing for subcontractors.
- Assemble bid tabs with estimates, vendor quotes, and subcontractor quotes.
- Populate bid forms, pricing breakouts, and optional pricing per project requirements.
- Manage the subcontractor/vendor solicitation process, ensuring team involvement in bid list approvals.
- Consult with customers, architects/engineers, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, cost reduction options, and resolve issues.
- Clarify project scope with customers and prepare proposal RFIs.
- Present and explain project budgets to customers, designers, and production teams.
- Study specifications to assist the production team in planning construction procedures, staffing requirements, and scheduling.
- Work with the production team throughout the preconstruction process to review plans and specifications for constructability issues.
- Create, maintain, and manage the preconstruction/design schedule for projects.
- Ensure self-performed estimates comply with project requirements.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate costs of materials, labor, and specialty equipment.
- Write specific and general instructions to bidders and required bid forms.
- Review subcontractor/supplier bids for conformity to contract requirements.
- Utilize software and internet-based programs, including:
- BlueBeam
- MS Visio
- OST
- MS Excel (advanced skills)
- MS Word
- MS Project (Scheduling)
- BIM 360
- Identify and document difficult or non-standard conditions.
- Manage and track multiple preconstruction projects concurrently.
- Conduct turnover meetings to product managers, project managers, and production teams after project award.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of commercial construction experience, with at least four (4) years in estimating.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent field experience.
- Data center experience is a significant plus.
- Strong independent sales skills for presentations and project pursuits.
- Proven history of successfully collaborating internally with teams and externally with customers, architects/engineers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to make authoritative decisions and demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in relevant CSI MasterFormat divisions, including but not limited to:
- Division 26 Electrical
- Divisions 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, etc.
