Role SummaryThe Claims Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the oversight, management and processing of claims, including supporting the development of necessary processes and procedures. This position will work on the process, flow of information and path to resolution of claims in concert with the company legal department, construction project personnel, and risk resources. The Claims Specialist will perform multiple daily functions under oversight from the company Legal and Risk Management departments. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.
- Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on assigned areas of responsibility, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor, as needed.
- Career Path: Senior Claims Specialist
- Manages the claims process and resolution for typical insured claims across all lines of business including but not limited to general liability, builders risk, property, auto, pollution, and subcontractor default.
- Supports investigation of claims, gathering of data, and preparation of claim submissions.
- Assists in response to hold letters, subpoenas, discovery matters, tender letters, reservation of rights, and coverage denial letters, and may independently draft response within permitted authority.
- Assists with management of company legal hold process.
- Analyzes loss data and make recommendations for claim settlement and reserves, within permitted authority.
- Oversees settlement of claims up to permitted settlement authority.
- Acts as company subject matter expert on Risk Management Information System including auditing data and providing support to other employees.
- Inputs and manages data in Risk Management Information System (RMIS), produce reports, and prepare executive summaries on claims.
- Orchestrates meetings with legal, risk, financial and project leaders to review claims as needed.
- Participates in regular claim reviews, internally and externally.
- Ensures compliance with claim handling protocols and account instructions.
- Participates in content development and delivery of claims-related training for project personnel and other departments.

Education
- Bachelor's degree in risk, finance, business or related field (Preferred)
- In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered - specifically legal, business, insurance, construction management, or risk management
Experience
- 3+ years construction insurance claim / litigation experience (Preferred)
- Skilled in RMIS usage and management (Preferred)
Working Environment
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
- May require periods of overnight travel
- Normal office environment
