Job DescriptionThe Sr. Analyst, Price & Assortment Analytics will support the ongoing delivery of advanced analytic pricing and assortment solutions to provide consultation and support our Retail Fortune 100 Client Mid & Senior-Executive teams to support their core strategic & tactical business objectives. This will be accomplished through the Sr. Analyst's ability to manage the operational delivery of complex analytics, their understanding of the data and analytics and the ability to deliver well-structured and communicated strategy insights for client stakeholders. Insights and analysis will support pricing and assortment strategy development, execution, merchandising/category planning, ad hoc strategic & tactical client requests, etc. with core focus being influencing merchandising strategy & tactics that will directly impact the clients Customers and business goals.
Summary of Role:
The role is an integral part of NIQ's Retail Client Analytics Team. The core responsibilities are to oversee the operations and delivery of essential analytical processes to our clients and to support the questions, investigations and analysis requested by our clients. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow within the role and progress toward future career development objectives along several potential paths including client relationship management, client analytics leadership and solution specialists. This role is key to ensuring that NielsenIQ delivers products/services and solutions that meet our client's needs, helping to enable client results resulting in increased revenue growth for NIQ.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage operational delivery of contracted pricing and assortment deliverables for our clients.
- Ability to investigate, analyze and troubleshoot operational issues within complex processes based on an understanding of both the core data and the operational processes and code
- Interpret, document and present/communicate data-driven retail insights to multiple business disciplines, providing conclusions and recommendations based off client and NIQ data.
- Act as solution and analytics subject matter expert for NIQ Retail Analytics solution and support client adoption and integration through a cadenced review w/client
Specialized Skill & Knowledge Requirements
- Demonstrated curiosity, initiative and passion for the application of analytics/data sciences to address business challenges and learning of new statistical/analytical methods.
- Ability to think outside the box, and use - "First Principles" approach to problem solving.
- Strong Interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
- Fundamental knowledge in data mining languages, data processing, mathematics and/or statistics, analytics, and business strategy*
- Experience with ad hoc analysis and problem-solving leveraging point of sale and statistically modeled data outputs.
- Retail/CPG Experience - Able to understand retail/CPG environment, and how to approach retail business problems with correct analytics approach to influence strategy, and implementations.
- Willingness to learn, and develop in areas of weakness - takes initiative to develop in areas where gaps of knowledge, experience, or technical approaches may be known.
- Task oriented - can manage workload effectively w/autonomy and achieve client deliverables.

Decision Making Authority
Most strategic decisions will be guided by the manager. The expectation is that the person in role will grow to take proper ownership, accountability of structuring data extracts, preparing analytical tools and delivering analyses that will be further used by business partners. Translate data into actionable insights & make strategic recommendations w/autonomy once management sees they are at an appropriate level.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
- 1-2 Years Experience in database analysis using SQL / Python / R
- 1-2 Years Experience in standard cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) or database environments
- 1-2 Years Experience in MS Office Suite
- 1-2 Years Work experience in role that requires data investigation, analysis & insights
- 1-2 Years Work experience in Retail/CPG industry
- Undergraduate degree
Preferred Requirements
- 1-2 Years Experience in Price Modeling & Techniques
- 1-2 Years Experience in Assortment Modeling & Techniques
- 3-4 Years Experience in SQL/ Python / R
- 1-2 Years Experience in Data Processing & Arch
- 1-2 Years Experience in Cloud Database Environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- 3-4 Years Experience in MS Office Suite
- 3-4 Years Experience in Statistics
- 3-4 Years Experience in Retail/CPG industry
Preferred Degree Specializations:
- Advanced Degree in Math / Statistics / Engineering / Computer Science / Information Systems / Economics / Data Science / Business Administration
