The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and customer-service focused Benefits Specialist to support our employees' health and welfare. The Benefits Specialist manages, administers and optimizes the employee benefit programs, retirement programs and leave of absence programs. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding their benefits, providing guidance, answering questions and resolving issues. You will also work collaboratively with the other members of the HR team, Payroll and Accounting, as well as with our external partners.
This role is hybrid, and the ideal candidate will be in the Alpharetta/Atlanta, GA Metro area. This is an exempt role and reports to the Payroll Manager.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and customer-service focused Benefits Specialist to support our employees' health and welfare. The Benefits Specialist manages, administers and optimizes the employee benefit programs, retirement programs and leave of absence programs. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding their benefits, providing guidance, answering questions and resolving issues. You will also work collaboratively with the other members of the HR team, Payroll and Accounting, as well as with our external partners.
This role is hybrid, and the ideal candidate will be in the Alpharetta/Atlanta, GA Metro area. This is an exempt role and reports to the Payroll Manager.
What You Will Do
- Provide proactive day-to-day administrative support for benefit processes, programs, and plans, such as medical and dental, life/AD&D and disability insurance, health savings accounts, 401(k), HSA, FSA, RRSP, DPSP and COBRA.
- Process benefits enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life events in Paylocity/Bswift systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with benefits vendors to resolve issues and ensure accurate eligibility information.
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries about benefits plans, eligibility, claims, and related issues.
- Facilitate leave-of-absence requests among staff, managers, and third-party administrators, coordinating with Payroll and managers for accurate timekeeping and leave tracking.
- Provide training and education to managers on company leave programs and their respective obligations.
- Maintain and update employee benefits records in compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Interpret and ensure adherence to all state and federal regulations, including FMLA and New York regulations, Workers' Compensation, and ADA as they relate to leaves of absence and disabilities.
- Assist in developing and distributing benefits & Wellness communication materials, such as plan summaries, webinars, and announcements.
- Collaborate with the HR team to update and maintain benefits information on the company intranet and other platforms.
- Assist with updating and designing materials for on-boarding, general employee communications, open enrollment, off-boarding and other communications.
- Participate in benefits-related projects, including annual open enrollment, benefits audits, and vendor evaluations.
- Support the implementation of new benefits programs and initiatives.
- Reconciles monthly invoices, research and correct any discrepancies and submit invoice details to the accounting team promptly.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business administration, or related field
- Professional certification, CBP or CEBS ideal
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills with a focus on details. Must be able to work independently with the ability to make judgement decisions in key matters
- Solid foundational knowledge of benefits/general HR processes, regulations, and laws; strong knowledge of HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA & PPACA, 1095C
- General understanding of ERISA, DOL, IRS regulations, Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
- Solid previous experience in self-insured benefits administration
- Proven experience in simplifying and streamlining HR processes through technology.
- Strong understanding of payroll, compensation, and benefits administration.
- A proactive and innovative mindset, with a passion for implementing the latest HR trends and technologies.
- Experience with HRIS systems and other HR technologies.
- Canadian benefits experience (Strongly preferred)
- Paylocity/Bswift experience (Strongly preferred)
