Overview
Lutron is seeking an inquisitive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer out of our Ashland, Virginia manufacturing facility for our 1st shift which operates Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30pm. In this role, you will take ownership of high-stakes projects from day one, focused on our industry-leading window covering solutions. With an increase in production, your support is needed to investigate issues and implement corrective actions needed to drive continuous improvement. You will be a key part of our manufacturing team and grow your skills while applying industry best practices to our quality function. Your contributions will help to maintain our market position as a world leader in automated shading solutions. Responsibilities
- Drive root cause analysis for plant escape and reoccurring failures within the plant using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone and 8D
- Drive 8D closure and investigations
- Complete external and internal audits
- Assist production and quality on difficult processes and/or units with multiple failures
- Provide direction and leadership to a portion of the quality team, ensure tasks are getting completed and coaching is being provided
- Assist with product development and improvements if needed
- Provide guidance to QA Techs and Auditors
- Complete quality related improvement projects for not only NL, but across the Window Systems business
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Textile Design, Textile Technology, or Materials Science
- Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00
- Desired 2+ years of professional experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Proven knowledge of data entry and extraction from business systems such as: ERP, MES, or Quality Database
- Failure analysis experienced is preferred
- Experienced in quality and/or process engineering positions preferred
