We are l ooking for a Quality Engineer to join our client's team to support the development of a new product line of Carbon/Carbon brakes for the aircraft aftermarket. The Quality Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing production processes, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and supporting technical teams in engineering, qualification, and testing.
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement quality/inspection plans for friction material engineering and manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with customer and industry requirements.
- Validate customer purchase orders and quality flow-down requirements for each project.
- Prepare reports and documentation per industry standards, including AS9102 First Article Inspections.
- Create and maintain inspection instructions for hardware and assembly procedures.
- Evaluate, approve, and monitor vendors based on quality criteria, performing capability assessments and audits.
- Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to maintain consistent quality and minimize disruption.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and expertise in the following areas:
- Close-tolerance GD&T and CNC machining.
- Drawing reading and interpretation.
- Metrology methodologies and inspection plan preparation.
- Materials certification and compliance.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis tools like MiniTab or JMP.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Strong mathematical skills (trigonometry, geometry) and problem-solving abilities.
- CQA and/or CQE certification is a plus.
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical discipline.
- 3 to 6 years of ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality System experience.
- 3+ years as a QC Inspector/Quality Engineer in aerospace applications.
- Proficient in MS Office and minimal travel flexibility.
