Ready to play an integral role in ensuring that our visitors enjoy our extraordinary places? Visitors of all ages and backgrounds explore and be inspired by our properties, including sandy beaches, wooded trails, cultural gardens, historic homes, community-supported agriculture—there are many ways for visitors to discover and explore The Trustees, and just as many opportunities for seasonal employees to make each visitor’s experience special.

The Role:

As a Seasonal Events Assistant, you will work with the Engagement and Stewardship teams to help prepare for our fall and winter seasons at Naumkeag.

Specifically, you’ll:

  • Work under the direction of the Engagement and Stewardship Manager to assist with set up of The Incredible Naumkeag Pumpkin Show and Winterlights. 
  • Set up for these events includes but is not limited to: 
    • carving and designing pumpkins (real and reusable foam pumpkins) 
    • installing/hanging lights and other seasonal displays 
    • moving haybales, corn stalks, large pumpkins/gourds, etc.  
    • other various event decoration and set up 
  • Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation. 

This is a seasonal, nonexempt position reporting directly to Engagement Manager and Stewardship Manager.

Requirements

What You’ll Need:

Skills and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Previous professional experience associated with the responsibilities of the position. 
    • Excellent “people skills” to work cooperatively and harmoniously with fellow employees, volunteers, and the public. 
    • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as a team member. 
    • Must be comfortable working on a ladder 
    • Be able to lift 20+ pounds 
    • Strong commitment to the mission of The Trustees of Reservations
  • Preferred:
    • Artistic background is desired but not required

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy. [if needed]
  • A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
