Staff Dimensional Engineer (Manager), SX, Body in White

The Body in White Dimensional Engineer will lead Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. They will build a strong and capable team that can drive continuous improvement of body quality and across the manufacturing line by focusing on automated, assisted, and manual processes. The successful candidate is a self-starter, has strong leadership capabilities, and is able to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time. This role requires working closely with Production Leaders, Associates, materials, and other departments in order to drive projects to success. The Dimensional Engineer is responsible for developing and executing standardization of manufacturing quality enablers and for performing process engineering activities, including equipment design, simultaneous engineering, project management, plant launch support, continuous process improvement and other product/process assurance planning activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of Dimensional Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians on process improvement projects for quality, yield, safety, and cost reduction
- Responsible for ensuring the quality issues are contained and corrected and for reporting to Senior Management daily on the actions taken
- Responsible for ensuring quality during the launch of body equipment and processes
- Responsible for ensuring dimensional and joining quality of the build highlighted by exterior fit metrics in general assembly
- Set priorities for the team based on production or business needs, as well as on data analysis of build quality, efficiency, rate, and cost, in order streamline and improve
- Analyze, design, and optimize new production processes to ensure quality while maximizing yield, capacity, and cost effectiveness to enable the build of world-class EV vehicles
- Support the transition of a product from concept development to pilot line production and into full rate production
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Must possess dimensional engineering skills
- Minimally 5 years of experience in a Body Shop manufacturing Environment
- Strong mechanical intuition and hands on experience modifying jigs, fixtures, and coordinating equipment installations
- Good understanding of process design, process validation, assembly methods, and design reviews
- Strong understanding of statistics to identify critical process parameters (Cpk, Ppk, and other six sigma metrics)
- Effective at communication and teamwork with all levels of an organization - especially skilled at working with direct labor to understand challenges and develop optimal solutions using structured methods

$132,000 - $198,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
