Job Function
Reporting into the Quality Manager, the Quality Lead Technician position will be based out of our King of Prussia, PA site and will be responsible for performing QC duties of an experienced technician on standard products, intermediates and raw materials, under supervised conditions. Also, aid in testing of materials for technical service, process engineering and R&D.
Responsibilities
• Perform delegation of work to other technicians
- Assist with ongoing projects as needed
Perform a variety of chemical, electrical, and physical tests on products, intermediates, and raw materials.
o Record test results on lot records.
o Document all non-conforming test results and include notification to Supervisor and/or Lead.
o Approve reported testing results.
• Enter sample data into QC database.
• Testing support emphasis is preliminary tests (off mill or in process) and more advanced or multi-step testing.
o Preliminary testing shall include all product classes and intermediates. Solids, viscosity and FOG are principal preliminary tests.
• Advanced or multi-step testing responsibilities which may include, but is not limited to, the following areas:
o Rheological (includes viscosity)
o Physical (includes adhesion, screen printing or visuals, solder ability)
o Electrical (includes sheet resistance, resistivity, conductance, voltage breakdown, dielectric constant, dissipation factor, surge, TCR)
o Thermal (includes TGA, DSC, TMA)
• Short and long-term project responsibilities
• May train and qualify lab personnel.
• Calibration responsibilities under the direction of the calibration Technician.
• Incoming Inspection support
o Input sample data into database and various lab techniques such as Surface Area, PSD, and Moisture Analysis.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, worksheets and lot records.
• Clean and organize the laboratory. Participate in the 5S Program.
• Responsible to communicate to manufacturing personnel the status or disposition of in process, intermediate, or finished goods as required.
• Understand proper handling, labeling and disposal of hazardous materials and their contents.
• Understand proper use of safety equipment.
• May be assigned responsibility for disposal of lab waste such as hazardous materials (wipes, substrates, etc.)
• ECR (Engineering Change Request) submittal as deemed necessary to create, modify or make deletions to controlled documentation.
• Oven or belt furnace profiling and calibration.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve lab operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
• High school education or GED is required, preferably including algebra and chemistry.
• Min. 2 - 3 years' experience in test lab or instrumental analysis including courses in physical sciences or a related field. Other combinations of experience and education, which meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted.
• Excellent hand eye coordination and the ability to make precise measurements using both manual devices and automated equipment.
• Ability to make arithmetical computations (multiplication, division, percentage calculations, addition, and subtraction).
• Knowledge of elementary principles, practices and techniques of chemical, physical and electrical testing.
• Knowledge of the operation and care of laboratory equipment (including oven and belt furnaces).
• Ability to perform standard chemical, physical and electrical tests accurately and evaluate results.
• Follow oral and written instructions exactly and prepare simple written reports on the results of lab tests performed.
• Work cooperatively with others.
• Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
• Work is performed in an office and/or laboratory environment.
• Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Power point, and Access.
• Demonstrates a high level of ownership/commitment to achieve results.
• Effectively presents and receives information both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, stand/sit for extended periods of time, and be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as respirator, gloves, safety glasses and lab coats.
Preferred Experience:
• Prior Experience in using or operating dimensional Measurement Machines (e.g. CMM, Micro-Vu or other similar equipment's) would be a plus.
