The Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio is the largest of its kind in the world. Each year RMHC provides a home-away-from-home for nearly 4,500 families of seriously-ill children. Responsibilities * In partnership with the Sr. Director Development, the Major Gift Officer will develop, implement and manage a proactive and effective major gifts and grants program including all activities related to the identification, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects. * Personally manage a portfolio of 150 individual and foundation prospects that are capable of making a major gift or grant to RMHC. * Prepare and submit grant proposals in a timely manner for consideration. Provide all necessary follow-up reporting in a timely manner to ensure future funding. * Research new foundation opportunities. * Develop and manage new strategies to identify, motivate, and engage volunteers and volunteer groups to become major gift donors. * Substantially increase major gift and grant income. * Work closely with RMHC program staff to identify program/service needs and gift opportunities for targeted solicitations. * Work closely with the Major Gift Committee to reach established goals. * Provide stewardship to donors through visits, publications, and other contacts as appropriate. * Maintain appropriate donor tracking and activity monitoring systems to ensure that cultivation and solicitation strategies are successfully implemented and goals are being met. * Utilize Raiser's Edge data entry for tracking activity, notes, donor acknowledgments, and maintaining donor relations. * Follows fundraising procedures and policies to accept and recognize all forms of gifts and upholds the rights of all donors. Adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics. * Represent the organization when requested. * Must be willing to travel locally approximately 20% of time.
