We are a small, fast team of capable Engineers. We specialize in architecture layouts and detail design of mass efficient castings and forgings like gearboxes and motor housings. We also work in plastics, sheet metal and bolted joint designs. Our work often has us reach across borders to our neighboring teams inside the drive unit and the rest of the vehicles where our Drive Units are used. Fast time to market is part of our DNA and we deliver products much faster than industry standard. The Tesla Semi is no exception.
Responsibilities
- Bring leadership and contribute a high level to the design and development of semi-truck and heavy-duty transmission designs and architectures
- Work with vehicle and production line integration teams to ensure successful assembly and service with the greater vehicle
- Work with reliability teams to diagnose and address and improve designs based on test results or issues in the field
- Develop designswith a heavy concentration on design for assembly at volume, in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering team
- Own the detail design of individual components of the assembly, from the very first concept ideas all the way though sourcing collaboration, first parts incoming inspection, PPAP of volume produced parts
- Work with the analysis and test team to define specs, and guide fixture design for testing
- Engage and drive the project team for an on-time delivery
- Heavy duty/Class 8 transmission design with focus on structural castings
- System level design ownership
- 3D experience or Catia V5 experience strongly preferred
- Casting design for volume production
- Detai l3D and 2D release of Iron and aluminum casting, forgings, and molded parts
- Componentand sub-system level structural CAE, experience in working in conjunction with CAE Specialists for more complex analyses
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong understanding of GD&T(Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Great time management and self-motivation

$104,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
