SUMMARY
The Collateral Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the bank's collateral records and ensuring that all liens are perfected and required document to perfect the bank's lien are properly filed in safekeeping. The Collateral Specialist is also responsible for the safekeeping and timely filing of original loan documents which the bank is required to have in their possession.

The Collateral Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the bank's collateral records and ensuring that all liens are perfected and required document to perfect the bank's lien are properly filed in safekeeping. The Collateral Specialist is also responsible for the safekeeping and timely filing of original loan documents which the bank is required to have in their possession.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
- Input of on-going collateral maintenance (i.e., collateral descriptions, values, etc.) for the accuracy of the bank's collateral records
- Review supporting documentation for collateral to ensure accurate collateral records, including, but not limited to:
- Lien searches and real estate title documents, to ensure bank's collateral position is perfected in accordance with various state laws
- Flood determinations and applicable flood insurance, to ensure compliance with bank policy and applicable regulations;
- Environmental due diligence documents, to ensure policy requirements are met; and
- Real estate appraisals and reviews, to ensure policy and regulatory requirements are met.
- Input, review, and clearing of collateral document tracking ticklers
- Review collateral documents received for accuracy and completeness
- Input, review, and clearing of collateral re-inscription and continuation ticklers
- Process collateral re-inscriptions and continuations as required by state and federal laws
- Process and release of collateral and update the collateral record on the bank's core systems for closed loans & released collateral
- Review and record original mortgages, deeds of trusts, modifications, and UCC filings
- Perform post-closing UCC searches to determine the bank's lien position
- Review vehicle title documents for accuracy prior to sending to the bank's titling vendor
- Monitor the bank's Electronic Lien System for new liens placed on titled vehicles
- Review collateral documentation to ensure any existing errors or deficiencies are corrected
- Engage and work with outside counsel, as needed
- Maintain the bank's loan and collateral vault
- Timely filing of new loan and collateral documents
- Timely removal of paid loan and released collateral documents
- Research, review, understand, and differentiate between various stats laws regarding collateral perfection
- Imaging of original collateral documents revived via mail (i.e., recorded mortgages, UCC filing confirmations, lien releases, etc.)
- Work closely with the Collateral Protection Department on property tax tracking and payment of delinquent property taxes
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in a Business or Finance related field with 1 (one) year loan documentation and collateral experience; or 2 (two) years of loan documentation and collateral experience
- Knowledge of real estate documents (Title Opinions, Title Insurance Documents, Mortgages, Appraisals, etc.)
- Knowledge of UCC rules and regulations
- Knowledge of other departments, as they relate to loan operations
- Strong interpersonal communication
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong computer, keyboard, and software application (Microsoft Word and Excel) skills
