Job Description

The Marketing Manager's primary objective is to support the creation and execution of the Westfield Garden State Plaza marketing strategy with a primary focus on developing, events and content that drives foot traffic, optimizes tenant engagement, and improves overall customer satisfaction and guest experience.

This role combines creativity, organizational and event management skills, plus data-driven marketing practices to ensure Garden State Plaza remains a market leading retail, dining, and entertainment destination.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include working closely with cross-functional teams including the Marketing Director, Senior General Manager, Tenant Coordination, Facilities, and the Corporate Marketing Teams.

The right candidate will have at least three years of marketing and events management experience, preferably gained in either a shopping center, retail, or destination/attraction environment.

Essential skills and experience must demonstrably include:
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in event planning and production.
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing tools including email development, website content management, and creative platforms such as Canva.
  • Exceptional copy writing skills.
  • Creative thinking with a strategic and problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies and reports.
  • Exceptional written verbal and communication skills with the ability to form effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including tenants, vendors, and agencies.
  • Familiarity with the retail or entertainment/attraction sectors is required.
CONSUMER MARKETING & COMMUNICATION
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director to develop and implement the Customer Content Strategy (annual marketing plan) which includes the ideation of innovative marketing programs and initiatives that challenge the industry standard and drive sales and traffic.
  • Manage relationships and processes with key internal departments (digital, brand, and events) for day-to-day operations including website, email, social media and digital content, sales, and data & insights.
  • Collaborate closely with tenants to create co-branded marketing efforts and drive their participation in center events to boost their visibility within the mall and drive sales and traffic to stores.
  • Function as a key point of contact for tenants regarding marketing-related inquiries.
  • Partner with Westfield Rise on client activations, maximizing awareness and reach, strengthening positioning, utilizing all marketing and PR channels.
  • Work in partnership with social media team to create the monthly content calenda, coordinate content shoots with tenants, help ideate and conceptualize engaging content, with a keen eye for detail, and the both the latest and emerging trends.
  • Create marketing and event strategy presentations and reviews with the ability to interpret and determine marketing analytics (including ROI, ROAS, & CAC) and qualitative data into discerning narratives and executive summaries for senior leadership review.
  • Work collaboratively and autonomously on multiple projects simultaneously and with cross-functional teams to bring strategies to life in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer demographics, and competitor activities to inform marketing strategies.
  • Understand digital and social media channels, analytics, and best practices in conjunction with traditional media and marketing channels.
  • Ensure all communication meets URW brand guidelines, standards, and tone.
EVENT PLANNING & EXECUTION
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate a calendar of events and activations as prescribed in the Customer Content Strategy.
  • Ensure events are cost-effective and deliver measurable ROI.
  • Partner with community organizations, tenants, and vendors to develop unique and engaging programming that includes tactics to drive sales, traffic, and achieve digital goals including audience acquisition, web traffic, and app downloads.
  • Manage event organization including creating site plans and schedules, budgets, creative assets, vendor contracts, and operational execution.
STRATEGIC & FINANCIAL
  • Manage incoming invoices and the budget tracker, ensuring vendors are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate traffic data and retail sales data, with additional knowledge of sales performance related, kick-outs, and percentage rent.
OPERATIONAL
  • Develop strong tenant relations by establishing and maintaining a thorough understanding of the retail, dining, and entertainment business.
  • Solicit and encourage tenant participation, support, and integration into marketing programs as an effort to promote their business and add value to the overall center marketing plan.
  • Collaborate with the Senior General Manager, Marketing Director, and corporate marketing teams on the development and execution of marketing campaigns that leverage opportunity for additional revenue.
  • Use customer and tenant feedback to refine strategies and help enhance the shopping center's appeal.
What We Are Looking For
  • B.A. or B.S . degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of Marketing experience required in either a retail, shopping center, destination, or entertainment environment.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic orientation, and general operation experience.
  • Meticulous with effective time management skills, ensuring deadlines achieved.
  • Strength in leadership, strategy, marketing, and fiscal management.
  • Deep understanding of digital and social media platforms and curating content.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate and / or retail development, leasing, and operations is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capability, especially in understanding and applying marketing/retail trends and marketing communication principles.
  • Must be flexible and able to work event shifts which may include nights, weekends and holidays and manager on duty shifts. Ability to travel as needed.

Compensation
  • $80,000 - $105,000 + Discretionary Annual Bonus
